Abstract
Recent experiments on spatial modulational instability in bulk quadratic media [1] clearly show that theoretically predicted structures in Optical Parametric Oscillators (OPO’s) can be experimentally observed. The variety of possible patterns is highly enhanced when considering the extra degree of freedom associated with the polarization of light. For example, in a type-II OPO the down converted beams (signal and idler) are orthogonally polarized and patterns in the transverse plane for each linear polarization can be formed. [2]
