Abstract
To improve the recording material of magnetic hologram, the effects of Al or Ga substitution on the optical properties of Bi-substituted yttrium iron garnets. Faraday rotation angle and extinction coefficient tended to decrease as increasing the amount of substitution. The figure of merit of the (Bi,Al):YIG tends to increase as increasing the amount of substitution, while that of the (Bi,Ga):YIG showed a peak lower than that of the (Bi,Al):YIG.
