Abstract
The ERG and VEP responses have almost always been elicited with stimuli covering large areas of the visual field. Where small stimuli were used, usually only one or two areas could be tested at a time. These techniques impose severe limitations for research as well as clinical applications. The observed responses either represent a mean or a very small sample of responses in a two-dimensional field of highly variable response densities.
