Abstract
The spatial and spatio-temporal phenomena that emerge in the transverse structure of the electromagnetic field have attracted a lot of attention in recent years1,2. We consider a cylindrically symmetrical laser with spherical mirrors, and describe the dynamics in terms of the competition among different Gauss-Laguerre modes of the cavity. In this presentation we focus on the case in which the mode competition leads the laser to approach a dynamical state which, according to the values of the control parameters, can be periodic or quasiperiodic.
