Optical transmission characteristics of erbium fibre amplifiers in the 1.3 μm window

Abstract

Measurements of the transmission of an erbium doped fibre amplifier between 1.05 μm-1.35 μm are reported. Excited state absorption at 1.14 μm and gain at 1.24 μm are observed.
