Abstract

Lightwave transmission in silica optical fibers has been demonstrated in four wavelength windows, 0.8 μm, 1.3 μm, 1.5 μm, and 1.6 μm (L-band). This experiment, using AllWave™ fiber, opens a fifth wavelength window namely, the 1.4 μm region.
