Abstract

By using the Symmetric Mach-Zehnder (SMZ) all-optical switches, error-free all-optical pulse regeneration at 84 Gbps and wavelength conversion at 168 Gbps have been achieved. To the best of our knowledge, these are the highest repetition rates for pulse generation and wavelength conversion. For the pulse regeneration, retiming capability based on a nearly square switching window provided by the SMZ switch has also been demonstrated.
