Abstract
Calibration of lidar measurements has often been done by comparing them with measurements made by local sampling devices such as glass-bulb thermometers, hygrothermographs, and radiosonde balloons. All these instruments have their own calibration problems and cannot be considered as absolutely reliable sources of data when attempting to evaluate other measurements.
