Image formation mechanism of the differential phase contrast scanning optical microscope

Abstract

A novel approach to scanning differential microscopy, based on an AC laser heterodyne interferometer, has been reported by us recently.1,2 The system was shown to have a depth resolution of better than 1 Å. It has been successfully applied to imaging various types of object.
