Fundamental two-scale solution for a wave propagating in a random medium

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The fundamental solution is a result of several different analytical methods. To date, only a comparison of the scintillation index and the spectrum of intensity fluctuations (or equivalents the correlation function) has been made, with numerical simulation and experimental data. We extend the comparison of the two-scale results to the full spatial behavior of the fourth moment. We compared our results with numerical solutions obtained by the finite-difference method and found that the typical scales of the fourth moment's evolution are present.
