Kinetics of gas phase group III atoms studied using laser photolysis/laser-induced fluorescence

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The reaction kinetics and photochemical production of gas-phase group III atoms (e.g., boron, aluminum, gallium, indium, and thallium) are studied using the laser photolysis/laser-induced fluorescence technique. Atoms are produced by photolysis of suitable precursors using the output of a rare gas halide excimer laser and detected using laser-induced fluorescence tuned to the 2S2P transitions. Results of studies using metal alkyls and metal halides as photolytic precursors are discussed. The results of kinetics studies of these group III atoms with various reactant gases are also reported.
