Abstract
We have evaluated the color vision of a sample of 75 normal individuals (20–78 years old) with the Farnsworth-Munsell 100-Hue test at five illuminance levels. The data were analyzed by fitting a two-cycle sine wave directly to each cap score error distribution. The amplitude and phase of this sine wave determine, respectively, the polarity and axis of each error distribution. The results of these fits quantify the increase in yellow-blue type errors that occur with increase in age and with decrease in illuminance level. Other indices of polarity were evaluated and found to be equivalent to the one that we used. Based on our sample, we present norms for the amplitude as a function of age
