Abstract
Infrared laser-microwave double resonance spectroscopy with intense electric field was applied to several simple molecules. In this technique, a rovibrational transition is brought into resonance with a laser line by the high electric field, while microwaves corresponding to a rotational transition are simultaneously irradiated to detect the double resonance effect as a change in the absorption of laser light. It is essentially an indirect method for the detection of microwave transitions under the influence of the Stark field and provides precise electric properties as well as zero-field molecular constants.
