Phase-only filters implemented on amplitude-modulating spatial light modulators

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Phase-only filters are useful for matched filtering and other forms of Fourier-plane filters. Although these filters may be implemented simply on a phase-modulating spatial light modulator (SLM), it is also possible to use amplitude-modulating SLMs, even ones without grey-scale capability. Simple filters encoding two and three phase states are presented. These filters provide useful correlations even with a limited number of resolution points.
