Abstract

The large bandwidth, immunity to interference, large fanout, and electrical isolation provided by optical communication techniques have led to recent interest in optical VLSI interconnection. Due to the advantages of highly parallel and global communications in optical holographic interconnects, optical holography has become an appealing alternative to wired interconnections (such as channel waveguides and fibers) on several levels of communication hierarchy within VLSI interconnect systems.
