One- and two-dimensional arrays with uniform intensity distribution

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Insufficient mode discrimination combined with spatial hole burning is a major problem in the development of coherent laser arrays. This problem is reduced if the array is designed to have a uniform intensity distribution. We describe how uniformity can be achieved in end emitting 1-D arrays and surface emitting 2-D arrays.
