Stable diffraction-limited beam from an index-guided phase-locked array supporting high-order modes at both the array and element levels

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

A novel index-guided array structure grown by metalorganlc chemical vapor deposition is demonstrated. The array structure is unique in that it supports a single array mode consisting of strongly coupled first-order lateral modes of each element. Nearly diffraction-limited beams are obtained to over 5 × threshold and up to 145 mW/uncoated facet.
