Novel 2-D acoustiooptic switch

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Two longitudinal transducers were bonded 90° to each other to a GaP optical substrate. The optically transparent substrate was oriented so as to consider the same acoustooptic properties for both acoustic directions. The angular separation between a deflected and undeflected beam depends on the acoustic center frequency which can be calculated by using the Bragg equation as follows: where 2θ =angle of separation, λ = laser wavelength, and V =acoustic velocity.
