Abstract
The phase information of an optical wave is typically encoded in an interference pattern. To retrieve the phase, the intensity of the pattern must be detected and decoded. Several methods of phase retrieval have been reported. They either are nonreal time and involve a nonlinear film recording,1 require significant digital computing power (for quasireal-time results),2,3 or require construction of accurate analog computational elements and involve phase unwrapping.4,5
