Abstract

The theory and technique of using a doublewavelength shift recording scheme for the fabrication of diffraction-limited low f/No. holographic objective and collimating lenses were proposed previously,1,2 Basically, the recording was done in two steps in two different wavelengths. A phase compensating corrector plate was first fabricated holographically at the shortest wavelength. The corrector plate was subsequently read out with the light of the intermediate wavelength. The light diffracted from the corrector plate interfered with a spherical wave and was recorded as the final HOE to be used in the longest wavelength. In each step of the recordings, the geometry was kept straight to the configuration that was free from all Seidel aberrations. Using this technique, we fabricated an infrared HOE objective lens for using at the wavelength of 830 nm with very low aberration. The experimental result agreed quite well with the theory we developed in the earlier work.
