Abstract

Two-pupil systems have been proposed to overcome the limitations in incoherent optical systems1 and operations such as bandpass filtering have been realized. In this presentation we explore the possibility of realizing bandpass filtering with longitudinal periodicity in a two-pupil interaction system.2 By filtering with longitudinal periodicity we mean that spatial filtering in the transverse directions (x, y) is repeated approximately along the longitudinal direction (z) at a periodic distance. This can be achieved by employing Fresnel zone plates in the pupil planes.
