Study of the relationship between varied wavelength reconstruction and index modulation

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

In this paper the diffraction efficiency of a dichromated gelatin hologram reconstructed with varied wavelength is studied. According to the properties of the film, assuming thickness D, wavelength λ, and angle θ, we posit the following: (1) Choosing the optimum exposure energy, the index modulation gives higher diffraction efficiency when the film is reconstructed with another wavelength. (2) By increasing exposure energy, high-order Bragg diffraction appears because of nonlinearities. According to this, we can make the reconstruction with varied wavelengths. (3) In the case of sensitivity the thickness varies with the sensitizing concentration. So reconstruction at other wavelengths adapts to this grating.
