Abstract

The acoustically tunable optical filter is a peerless candidate for very broad tuning range, nanometer bandwidth optical filtering applications, including switching and filtering for WDM networks, and optical spectrum analysis. Only recently has the unique capability of the acoustooptic filter to independently switch many different channels been exploited, since integrated optics has been required to reduce power consumption to manageable levels.
