How optical computers, architectures, and algorithms impact system design

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Optical processors can implement many functions (feature generation, correlation, logic and numeric functions, spectrum analysis, etc.) in well-engineered compact systems. The devices available generally define the optical architecture and algorithm to be used. Hybrid optical/digital and analog/digital techniques are generally workable solutions.
