Glass waveguide fabrication technology: a review

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

After 20 years of research, glass optical waveguides are finally reaching a mature stage in which mass-produced, quality passive devices are commercially available. There has recently been a surge of interest in these waveguides owing to the widespread use of optical fibers in densely interconnected networks.
