Silicon optical bench research at AT&T Bell Laboratories

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

This decade will see photonics move from individual components providing simple point-to-point communications, to more complex optical circuits and applications. We will review our work on using silicon integrated circuit processing to make substrates with planar waveguides, in order to join together hybrid-mounted active and passive devices.
