Mono-intense writing and readout and re-exposure measurements in frequency-doubling optical fibers

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The saturation of the second-harmonic generation process in optical fibers has been a subject of interest since it was first observed by Osterberg and Margulis. The phenomenon was subsequently modeled by Oullette who thought it was due to the change in the phase-matching condition brought about by the intensity dependence of the index of re fraction. We have tested this dependence at a fundamental level, using monointense pulses.
