Diffraction analysis of electromagnetic-wave scattering from two-dimensional slab lamellar grating

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Although two-dimensional diffraction problems are generally an extension of one-dimensional problems, there are some subtle differences. One important feature of two-dimensional problems is that they cannot be decomposed into TE and TM modes, as one-dimensional cases, this makes numerical computation more cumbersome. Also, numerical difficulties arise because of the of assumption perfect conduction. We used numerical analysis to computate the electromagnetic field when a two-dimensional perfectly conducting slab lamellar grating structure is impinged upon by monochromatic incident light.
