Abstract

The dynamics of the Quasicontinuum band population with constant dipole strength distribution has been extensively studied. Revivals, population flopping and nonlinear population band distribution are known features, as well as the role played by each one of the relevant parameters.1 However, a more realistic approach requires abandoning the assumption of a constant dipole strength, the uniform level spacing distribution and near steady conditions. We carry on numerical simulations of the electron spectrum and the transient resonance fluorescence of a band with non-constant strength distribution, and discuss their time evolution, both linear and nonlinear populations, frequency distributions and their dependence on the band dipole distribution itself. We find that the distributions coincide in some specific cases with simple and straightforward approximations. This is qualitatively confirmed by analytical solutions in constant dipole strength case.
