Reconfigurable adaptable optical inter-connects

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Optical interconnects have the potential of overcoming some of the bottlenecks in interconnection networks. In this paper we propose a system in which a spatial light modulator (SLM) will be used to perform the interconnection. In this system the actual desired interconnection nodes will be used to train the network. The actual modulating functions of the SLM will be stored for the different interconnections. The training of the network will use a feedback loop in the opto-electronic system and an iterative algorithm. Different algorithms will be considered and tested. Cross talk, power efficiency of the network, and algorithm convergence and speed analysis will be presented.
