A gradient index of refraction model of the human lens

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We present a model of the human lens utilizing three types of refractive index distributions: step function, parabolic, and linear gradient. Thicknesses, curvatures, and ray traces are calculated and compared among the models. We comment on the errors between our model and others. In addition, a generalized computer model of the index of re fraction for a human eye is illustrated.
