Generation and application of hard-x-ray picosecond pulses by an optically driven x-ray diode

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Generation of hard x-ray pulses in the range 10-100 ps has been achieved by driving a vacuum photodiode with 193 nm picosecond light pulses in order to maximize the photo emission from metallic cathodes.
