Carrier to Noise Ratio and Crosstalk in Thermo Magneto Optic (Tmo) Rewritable Optical Disks

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Test methods are being developed to measure and characterize carrier to noise ratio (CNR) and crosstalk in TMO optical digital data disks. The conditions which optimize the CNR may also be sufficient to induce crosstalk in adjacent (+ 1, + 2) tracks. Thus, the onset of crosstalk must be related to CNR optimization. Some compromise must be established between minimum crosstalk and sufficient CNR.
