Read Channel Optical Modeling for a Bump Forming Dye-Polymer Medium

Abstract

Read channel optical modeling has been conducted for a bump forming dye-polymer medium developed by Optical Data, Inc. (ODI). The medium configuration options and operating principles have been reported previously (1,2,3). This paper will present a simple model for written marks on the media and the results of preliminary read channel optical modeling to determine the effects of media and drive variables on the read signal.
