Abstract

Commercially available read only optical disks, such as compact disks(CD) and CDROM, are susceptible to degrading corrosion of Al reflective films and their peeling-off from polycarbonate substrates1), and they lapse into a state of playback impossibility when the worst comes to the worst. Taking into consideration of the above serious problem, the authors succeeded in developing an extremely durable CDROM with a novel structure. This paper describes the structure and reliability on the extremely durable CDROM.
