Abstract

Light diffraction by periodic structures finds applications in various areas such as integrated optics, holography, acousto-optics, optical data storage, and data processing etc. Here we discuss the light diffraction by periodic structures for optical storage applications. In this paper we present theoretical and experimental results of polarization separation characteristics of surface relief diffraction gratings and its use in signal detection from optical disk.
