Effect of Dispersion Fluctuation on Optical Transmission Systems using Midway Optical Phase Conjugation

Abstract

Fluctuation of fiber dispersion along the system degrades the compensation efficiency of the optical phase conjugation. We find that the compensation efficiency can be improved by properly controlling the fluctuation period and the average dispersion.
