20Gbit/s Single-Channel Soliton Transmission over 9000km without inline Filters

Abstract

20GbitA single-channel soliton signal has been successfully transmitted over 9000km without inline filters, for the first time, using periodic dispersion compensation. The Gordon-Haus timing jitter at 9000km was reduced by a factor of more than 3 just with the dispersion management.
