Abstract

Amplitude modulation of 33 GHz optical pulse trains generated by subharmonic hybrid mode-locking of a multi-contact semiconductor laser is investigated experimentally. Nearly transform limited pulses with low timing jitter and negligible amplitude modulation is realized by optimizing the driving conditions at a subharmonic frequency of 16.5 GHz.
