Ultrafast All-Optical Switch with Multiple-Quantum-Well Etalon Using Picoseconds Spin Relaxation

Abstract

All-optical switch is demonstrated with a multiple-quantum-well (MQW) etalon using spin relaxation. Spin relaxation time is shown to be well controlled by changing quantum-well thickness based on D’ yakonov-Perel interaction model. 4-ps all-optical gate- operation has been achieved by a switching device with thin MQW etalon structure.
