Abstract

Regenerative repeater spacing of lightwave systems using phase-sensitive amplifiers is theoretically derived by taking into account the signal-to-noise ratio and waveform distortion. The repeater spacing is expanded to more than five times that of EDFA for 10-40 Gbit/s.
