Abstract

Optimum structures of dispersion compensating fibers(DCFs) are synthetically explored considering indispensable requirements for practical applications. It was clarified that matched cladding structure with enhanced figure of merit of 280ps/nm/dB has the greatest benefit among currently proposed structures.
