Proposal of WDM Optical Access Network for ATM-based Multimedia Applications

Abstract

The paper proposes a WDM optical access network employing laser diodes at a central office and a semiconductor optical amplifier at subscriber premises. Upstream optical data is generated at subscriber premises by gating transmitted optical pulses from the central office.
