Abstract

A tapped fiber delay line buffer for a photonic ATM switch is proposed. Optical circulators are used to obtain better performance, and fiber delay adjusters are incorpolated to tune each unit delay. The unit delay of a prototype buffer was measured precisely by the frequency sweep method.
