Abstract

R&D programmes of the European Union provide a framework for collaboration in Projects involving several partners. In the ACTS programme, different Projects are developing optical technology for networking, for highspeed transmission and multiplexing, and for broadband access. These Projects will lead to field trials across Europe in the later stages of the programme.
