Abstract
Computer aided design tools are required for the reliable and time-efficient specification of high-speed optical data links for computer networking.1,2 This paper focuses on the development of an optical link simulation environment called SOLUS (simulation of light using spice), for use in the design of Gbit/s optical data links. The SOLUS simulation environment is illustrated in Fig. 1. It supports a topdown design methodology by providing hierarchial models for link design, and circuit models for link module design.
