Abstract

Recently, high-speed optical data links have been widely used in many fields, including high-speed communication between computers and within high-speed switching systems. We have previously reported a 12-channel parallel optical data link (MODLINK-I) with a maximum throughput of 2.2 Gbit/s.1 The parallel optical data link reported here (MODLINK-II) is designed for much higher data throughput of as high as 4Gbit/s, and it consumes less than half the electrical power (25 W in MODLINK-I and 11.5 Win MODLINK-II).
