Abstract

We numerically demonstrate that a local conversion from dispersion-managed soliton to nonlinear Schrödinger soliton restores the efficiency of optical regeneration control and enables the transmission of 32×40Gbit/s over transoceanic distances with high spectral efficiency (1.4nm channel spacing).
