Eye-safe Data Transmission of 1.25 Gbit/s over 100-m SI-POF with Four Laser Diodes in the Visible Range

Abstract

For the first time we have proved 1.25-Gbit/s eye-safe transmission over 50-m and 100-m links of step-index polymer optical fiber with edge emitting direct injection laser diodes operating at 405 nm, 450 nm, 515 nm and 650 nm each.
