Simplified TC-MLSE Equalizer for 210-Gb/s PAM-8 Signal Transmission in IM/DD Systems

Abstract

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a trellis-compression MLSE in a 210-Gb/s PAM-8 signal transmission over 2-km SSFM transmission. We find TC-MLSE can reduce the complexity by 98% with only 0.2-dB penalty compared with conventional MLSE.
